From a first glance, this looks very much like your normal Styled Shoot – but on the contrary! This shoot is very special, because not one but seven photographers contributed to it. De Mispelhoef in Eindhoven, in the south of the Nertherlands, was the location for this incredible photo session – and it was organised by Marielle van Asten from Jel Fotografie. We at Zankyou are blown away by this shoot!

The idea of this photo session is to show wedding couples how different the style of each and every wedding photographer can be. You can capture a glimpse of this by reading our Real Wedding articles, but we have never put them all in the same place before! Through this shoot you can clearly see that the photographers all concentrate on different details and approaches – their choice of lighting and camera angle differ, and each of them communicate in a diverse way with the bride and groom.

Of course, there were a few more people needed than just the photographers and the couple to make this shoot possible. The hair and makeup of the bride was provided by Monica de Ruijter and Tirza van der Wielen, and the gorgeous cake you will see later was baked by KM Cakes! The employees at the restaurant location worked hard to ensure the setting and background were perfect, with some assistance from Table4You with the interior table décor. The beautiful stationery coming up was made by Elise Rave and Chantal Biljard from Bonte Raaf.

There was a mix of levels of experience amongst the seven photographers present at this Styled Shoot, and this was done to show that a photographer does not necessarily have to have years of experience to deliver beautiful pictures for your wedding. A photographer with little experience also needs to get acquainted with the process – everyone must start somewhere!

And this shoot was the perfect opportunity to do just that! At the shoot, attention was mainly paid to the use of light and the various compositions and angles. Every photographer has made stunning photos, and therefore each deserve as much praise as the others! If you’re looking to the Netherlands or Northern Europe as the destination for your wedding abroad or honeymoon, then you can be assured that one of these seven photographers will be able to help!

And for all of you out there who are still looking for a wedding photographer, these seven photographers have some expert tips for you!

  • Look online to check out photographers’ portfolios. You can then select one based on the quality of their work, where they are based, and your budget.
  • Pay close attention to the atmosphere and storytelling qualities of previous work done by the photographer. What style or tone is their speciality? Does this suit the kind of wedding you want?
  • Find a photographer that you click with! They are often present for the entirety of the most important day of your life (!), and so having a mutual trust and affection can be very helpful.

  • Discuss both the style that you want, and your expectations when you meet your photographer face to face.
  • Talk to more than one photographer so you can decide which one most suits your criteria.
  • Look at the capabilities of the photographer. It might be that they take the most beautiful shots during the day, but then struggle to get the lighting and editing right for shots in the evening. You want beautiful coverage for the entirety of your wedding – not just one part!
  • Consider how long you want to hire the photographer, and which moments you definitely want captured on camera.
  • Does the person or team you have in mind fit the above criteria, and are they a logistical and budgetary match? Then you have probably found the perfect photographer – so book them now!

This Styled Shoot was not only held to show all of you out there that every photographer is different; it was the perfect opportunity for many colleagues in the Netherlands to study how each other worked! And for all of the providers out there – organising a shoot with fellow photographers means that you can learn a lot about how to improve, and how to gain more attention from couples. Sharing is caring!

Because of the angles that were used by the photographers to capture images of the beautiful wedding invitations (made by Elise Rave & Chantal Billiard at Bonte Raaf), you can see even more clearly their different styles and preferences. For example, some prefer to take photographs from above, whilst others straight on. This truly is the best way to choose a photographer based on the kind of photos that you want!

And we’re not just fans of the photographers – we also love the cake! With a minimalist look, it perfectly matches the rustic theme and atmosphere of the Styled Shoot, and was provided by the talented team at KM Cakes. The picturesque table decorations were provided by Table4You.
