Festival style weddings are fast becoming a popular trend in the bridal industry, particularly as celebrities such as Italian high-fashion blogger Chiara Ferragni use the style for their own ceremonies and receptions. However, this approach is done best on a small-scale, in an intimate setting – preferably in the countryside! And this is exactly why Alison and Danny’s quirky spin on a festival wedding worked so well – taking place in the quaint village of Croston, Lancashire, where everybody in the town seemed to know their names, their wedding encompassed the whole town, and was festive, relaxed and most of all, very musical!

Soaking in the sunshine in their 80s style sunglasses, Alison and Danny took all the stress of planning their wedding in their stride. The bride looked absolutely incredible in a Vera Wang ballgown with pastel pink highlights, and Danny looked sharp in his blue-grey suit with fitted check waistcoast. Chilled out and calm all day, their wedding went off without a hitch, and was made even more special by a procession through Croston that took place after the ceremony at their local church. With one-man band Laurence Marshall leading the way – in a style that immediately makes us think of Dick van Dyke’s infamous performance in Mary Poppins – the festival theme of their wedding really came through, as the locals congratulated the happy couple on their special day.

The reception was hosted in an array of tipis, again contributing to the laid-back tone for the day. Instead of a sit-down meal, the couple opted to serve a hog roast and a lamb roast – a proper British classic! And this homemade wedding day was made all the more intimate by how involved members of the bride and groom’s families were; Alison’s bouquet was grown and crafted by her mother, and the whole day was in walking distance of their family home. Surrounded by family and friends, and the town in which they had both lived, Alison and Danny’s wedding day was a truly special, and truly unique event – and one that is massively inspiring for couples looking to host their own bohemian or festival style ceremony!
