It was the month of December in the year 2017 when Cian invited his partner Laura to spend a few days at The Lyrath Hotel in Kilkenny, the scene of their first trip as a couple, four years earlier. During a romantic walk near the falls, Cian got down on one knee (as per tradition) and asked Laura to marry him. There told is the first chapter of the union of two soul mates, two people who are ready to exchange a lifetime promise…

The wedding between Cian and Laura was hosted not in Ireland, the land of origin and the house of the spouses, but in the romantic setting of Castello di Montignano, a renowned relais in the province of Perugia, an ideal setting for a fairy-tale wedding. The Castle is located in a medieval village with ancient history, built in 962 AD, and carefully maintained over centuries, recently renovated to combine the beauty of the antique with the refinement and practicality of contemporary design. An oasis of peace and elegance immersed in nature and equipped with a swimming pool in front which directly overlooks the Martani Mountains.

Laura and Cian wanted to entrust the organisation of their wedding to the care and experience of Beatrice, trusted wedding planner of the Castello di Montignano team for her creativity, passion for her work and the very high quality of service she offers newlyweds, even for international couples who do not have the opportunity to follow every step of the wedding planning in person.

Beatrice, from Castello di Montignano, closely followed all the stages of preparation for this romantic ceremony, starting with dressing the very excited spouses. The groom’s suit was a classic tailored cut model in blue by Dorian Black, while the choice for the bride’s dress was a splendid, charming, mermaid wrap model, with precious details embroidered on the bodice by Alena Leena and selected in the Alice May Bridal boutique from Dublin, who also made the magnificent veil which was embroidered like the dress, long and elegant and pinned onto her hair which was styled by Lauteri Terni. Simple, elegant make-up framed and brightened the bride’s facial features, courtesy of the incredible work of make up artist Janita Helov.

The civil ceremony was celebrated in the grounds of Castello di Montignano in the romantic olive garden, framed by a simple ivy entwined arch, a bouquet of soft pastel roses providing a pink accent, matching the bride’s bouquet and the floral details of the castle. All of this was the result of the creative work of Mariana Flower Stylist, the Castle’s trusted supplier. The arrival of the bride on her father’s arm, surrounded by her bridesmaids and led by the flower girl and the page boy was a moving moment for every guest.

After the ceremony a splendid buffet of appetisers was served by the pool, a spectacular setting illuminated by the warm light of the sunset with the Castle as a backdrop – a suitable prelude to an evening of celebrations and happiness! The wedding banquet was set up next to the olive garden, and the wedding table, together with the families and witnesses, was positioned at the centre of another long table arranged in a horseshoe formation, with numerous hanging candles to create a starry sky effect. The traditional speeches were made; glasses were raised to toast the newlyweds, the soft candlelight glowed, the guests danced and chatted, and the cake was finally cut.

After the cutting of the wedding cake and the first toast as husband and wife, dessert was served inside the Castle, followed by the big party with the band and DJ all night long!

The wedding of Cian and Laura was celebrated for three whole days, involving the 120 guests who came specially from Dublin. The three day celebrations included wonderful convivial moments, games, dancing and sharing Italian traditions – starting with the fun Pizza Night in the medieval village, an informal event that saw the setting up of an imperial table along the entire Borgo del Castello on the evening before the wedding. On the third day, to make sure they greeted everyone, the newlyweds organised a BBQ and pool party. There were many details to demonstrate the Italian-ness of the location, including the excellent choice of using Fiat Cinquecentos to take photos of the newlyweds and their witnesses, as pictured below.
