On the 7th March, we had the pleasure of visiting the Parador de Sigüenza in Spain with a wonderful private tour around their spaces and facilities. About an hour away from the capital city of Madrid, the Parador has unique, majestic spaces, catering for all types of events and we thoroughly enjoyed spending the weekend there and visiting the local area.
The Parador de Sigüenza is an imposing ancient medieval castle situated in an Arab fortress built atop a Roman settlement. The perfect setting for you to enjoy an ancient city, where stones speak of history, tradition and legend. The hotel’s traditional Castilian Spanish furnishings are displayed beautifully in their spacious welcoming rooms. Some bedrooms feature four poster beds that will make you feel as if you’re in a real palace. Within the thick stone walls there is a cobbled courtyard, a stately dining room and function rooms which are ideal for meetings and events.
The enormous castle has seen many transformations in its time, from an Arab castle, a religious estate and also a military base for various wars. From the moment we arrived, we felt something incredibly special and we knew that the Castle of Sigüenza would be the perfect historical venue for any wedding, especially for lovers of history and all things medieval.

Whether you’d like to book a local church for your nuptials or prefer to have a civil ceremony at the venue, the team at the Parador de Siguenza will talk you through all of your options. From a beautiful medieval ceremony in their gardens, to a civil ceremony in their romantic chapel, this venue has something for all tastes and denominations.
If it’s a religious ceremony you want, just a few metres away from the venue is a Cathedral as well as 4 smaller churches, perfect for an intimate wedding!
The rustic decor at the Parador is elegant and sophisticated, framed by an incredible medieval setting. The middle ages are present throughout their event spaces, even in their bar and restaurant. The perfect style if you’re taking things to another level with a medieval theme!
Within their thick stone walls you can find a stone courtyard, an opulent dining room, magnificent stately rooms and a romantic chapel dating back to the 13th century. Their professional team will discuss decor and style options with you, bringing to life any theme or ideas you may have.
If you are considering a medieval theme, then this is something the team at the Parador are incredibly familiar with. Something they’ve done many times before, they can arrange re-enactments, hire costumes for you and even create a medieval banquet for you complete with food inspired by the middle ages, they even hold specific medieval nights on a regular basis.
Their excellent restaurant offers a wide variety of Spanish cuisine with high quality local produce. You will be able to enjoy a selection from their delicious menus allowing you to choose something to your taste and budget.
All of their set wedding menus include: welcome drinks, lunch or dinner, two hours open bar (except for the medieval menu), table flowers, menus and seating plans. All of this can be adapted and changed should you prefer a different option. It’s something the venue can create with you tailored to your personal preferences.
We were incredibly spoilt by the Parador when they treated us to an incredible meal in their restauarant. After their warm welcome we enjoyed a drink in their Throne Room and a delicious dinner in their restaurant with the very best local ingredients. A mixture of hot and cold starters, a fish course, a meat course and we just about managed to squeeze in a dessert! Incredible food served by professional and friendly staff.
If you’re looking for a destination wedding venue that is unique and exclusive, the Parador de Sigüenza has it all. They can also create a special menu for children and arrange fun entertainment for them during your stay.
If you’re looking for something a little less formal and the complete opposite of a medieval theme, they also specialise in cocktail receptions with buffet stations, canapes and a more contemporary menu. They can even hire a sushi chef for the evening and set up fabulous drinks stations for cava, mojitos and can arrange a delicious chocolate fountain and a dessert table for you too. When it comes to wedding menus, there isn’t anything they can’t do!
After an exquisite meal, we stayed in one of their magnificent rooms overlooking the courtyard. In the morning we were treated to a sumptuous breakfast before having a final walk around their grounds and the pretty town of Sigüenza, something we enjoyed so much, and makes us love our job even more!
To top things off, if you hold your wedding here, the couple are given a complimentary night in one of their magnificent suites and the couple are also invited to return for a complimentary meal for their first anniversary!
