So you’re thinking about an English wedding, in the summer, with a traditional elegance provided not only by the dress, the colour scheme and the small details, but also by the location. So we’re trailing your thoughts and bringing you Claire and Joseph’s beautiful wedding, held in Cambridge at the end of the glorious summer of 2013. We think you’re going to love it!
Sky blue to match the summer’s day, with an almost Cambridge blue for the bridesmaids. The bride in flowing white, the groom in dark blue, and hats, lots of hats.
A small bouquet of white flowers left all eyes on the bride’s dress, elegantly simple but with on-trend touches, such as the dropped waist. A long veil looked perfect in the Cambridge church where the couple were married.
In fact, Cambridge was a big part of the day, not only thanks to the amazing weather it gave the couple on their wedding day, but also in the romantically English settings for the photos. Riverside scenes and a classic college backdrop for the more formal photos of the wedding party simply reinforced the elegance of the day.
The reception was held in a marquee, decorated with simple white candles and summery flower arrangements, drenched in pink and creme. Blue continued to be the theme, with big blue plates at every place setting and blue candlesticks decorating the tables. Bunting hanging from the ceiling also made for a really traditional summer-fête feel, creating a relaxed atmosphere for an outdoor wedding.
Check out the light on this beautiful photo below of the couple in a typical English garden. Even the sun shining through the clouds is smiling on them!
Little details, including apples as place markers and favours that included little heart-shaped biscuits and seeds to plant in memory of the big day, all came together.
