We know other people’s weddings inspire you. And this one is pretty inspirational. Lizzy and Eric got married in a seaside location and did their very best with their decor and colour scheme to capture the nautical theme without going overboard (sorry, we couldn’t resist it). So if you’re looking for a tasteful way of approaching a themed wedding, this is one for you…
While we love themed weddings with couples dressed up, we know this isn’t for everyone. However, you might still be interested in adding a theme to your big day. That’s why we love this wedding – the understatement works beautifully to create a lovely wedding look.
Navy blue and yellow were the chosen colour scheme, with the former highlighting the nautical theme while the latter was also reinforced by the beautiful summer weather. Nude and white were additional colours, with the bride in a beautiful off-the-shoulder mermaid-style dress in white, with a bouquet featuring touches of yellow to tie in with the wedding theme.
Navy blue was a big feature in the bridegroom and groomsmen’s look and the bridesmaid’s dresses, but in this case, the latter brightened up their look with yellow pashminas.
Some contemporary invitations and save the dates are the best way to set the theme. The colour scheme and even the font can help suggest what you’re trying to achieve and also add a touch of fun to the big day. Here, Lizzy and Eric picked passport-like booklets in navy blue with the anchor logo on the front, which then appeared on other wedding details.
Simple table decoration with clean lines and reminders of the colour scheme matched nicely with the rest of the theme. Smaller touches of navy blue and yellow along with the pristeen white of the bride’s dress came together to create a very fresh and summery look.
Flowers on the tables echoed the bride’s bouquet. Meanwhile, the anchor motif on the order of service and the wedding cake carried the nautical theme through from the ceremony to the reception.
One of Zk’s recommendations for your wedding album is a photo of the wedding rings. Here, photographer Carina Skrobecki has captured the nautical theme to a tee, combining the couple’s commitment with their love of the sea. Lovely!
