There are innumerable places in the world that are perfect for destination weddings, but finding one that has a special significance for you and your partner is what will make your wedding feel personal and unique.
Well, Tori and Ben chose Santorini, and it’s not hard to see why. This charming Greek island in the Aegean Sea has a rugged landscape, expansive sea views and quirky streets lined with whitewashed houses that are both elegant and authentic. “It was idyllic, peaceful and truly romantic,” said Tori, “we love Greece, and I spent many years living in Cyprus, so it made sense.”
Many couples worry that having a destination wedding will significantly reduce the amount of loved ones and friends that are not able to attend, which is something Tori and Ben considered. However, before the whole planning process began, the couple made a pact together that no matter what, they wouldn’t lose focus on exactly why they were getting married in the first place. “We agreed that our decisions would be based purely on our own preferences and relationship, and not for the sake of pleasing others.”
The pact paid off, that’s for sure. Tori and Ben were able to celebrate their wedding in one of Europe’s most romantic spots, and shared these special moments with 60 guests! The couple were married in a beautiful venue, Le Ciel, described by guests as ‘a little piece of heaven’, and Tori looked picture-perfect in a Pronovias gown and cape, with bridesmaids in light pink. From an emotional ceremony overlooking the glistening waves, to a fabulous party with lots of dancing, this really was a Greek-style celebration to remember.
We hope you enjoy Tori and Ben’s lovely photos of their destination wedding in Santorini, captured beautifully by Lina and Tom, a creative photography duo from the UK that specialise in destination weddings – with a post-wedding shoot included!
“All in all, our pact did not hinder anything at all. Our love for each other shone to all those that chose to join us in our celebration. Our hearts ruled that day and I think everyone would agree that choosing to do so only enhanced the magic.” Tori
