The infamous fashion guru Karl Lagerfeld has died this morning aged 85 after being admitted Monday night at emergency in a hospital in Paris. The German designer has been unwell for a number of weeks, causing him to miss the Chanel fashion show in Paris in January, triggering speculation about his state of health. A Vogue fashion editor said he had previously never missed a fashion show in his 35 years at Chanel. Mr Lagerfeld worked right up until his death, as creative director for Chanel and Fendi, as well as designing for his own brand.
Today, we look back at the life of this iconic man and admire his most beautiful wedding dresses, which he designed for the French fashion house Chanel. From the modern trouser suit to the romantic princess dress, everything was innovative, fashion-forward and unique. Karl Lagerfeld will be remembered as an icon of bridal fashion.
The legendary fashion designer with dark sunglasses, high collar and Mozart braid will always be remembered, not only for his iconic taste in fashion; but for his legendary sayings:
“Elegance is an attitude.”
“Fashion is neither moral or immoral, but it is for rebuilding the morale.”
“I design like I breathe. You don’t ask to breathe. It just happens.”
