New York Bridal Fashion Week comes around twice a year – in April and October – and we have to be honest: it’s our favourite bridal events of the entire year! This is where the best and most respected bridal designers, from Vera Wang to Ines di Santo, bring their A-game and wow not only New York but the whole world. And from the 4-7th of this month, they unveiled their newest collections – most of them for Autumn/Winter 2019 – and gave us a first look into the prevailing trends for next season, and exactly what is going to be hot for 2019 brides. Check out a selection of some of our favourite looks from the four-day showcase!

(Hint hint: non-traditional brides – you’re about to have a ball!)

Berta Bridal showed us that lace is going to continue to be a huge feature for the upcoming season, with this material the dominant feature of many of these exquisite gowns. There is also heavy indications that 2019 will showcase some of the sexiest wedding dresses that we have seen so far in the bridal fashion industry – with daringly low necklines and sheer panelling popular.

Ines di Santo shows us that colour is also making a comeback for the upcoming season, with a collection that was made up almost entirely of pastel (and even one black!) dresses – with some of the most attractive floral detailing that we have ever seen. Couture has never looked this chic!

Here at Zankyou, we love Watters, and much like Berta Bridal, their new collection at #NYBFW showed that lace and luxury are going to dominate 2019. With the most stunning and ethereal gowns, we also saw the comeback of the ballgown, which has been diminishing in popularity over the last decade or so – but now we’ve surpassed Prom Queen, and come back full circle to dresses that are fit for Royalty!

Chief designer at Marchesa, Georgina Chapman, has had a tough year of it, and yet you would not be able to tell from the beauty of her latest collection. Classic yet totally dramatic, the hints of colour echo Ines di Santo’s prediction that non-white dresses are going to trailblaze the bridal scene for 2019, but their more subtle inclusion here makes for a totally feminine range of gowns.

Vera Wang is the undisputed Queen of bridal fashion, and nowhere is this more clear than in her latest Versailles range, which sources inspiration from the French Royal Family and their court in the 18th century. The sheer intricacy of these designs have got us all clutching our pearls, and we can’t wait to see these gowns make their way off of the catwalk and into a few weddings!

And if we were fawning over Vera Wang, then we have definitely fallen head over heels for Reem Acra. The use of embellishments – and the most expensive fabrics, which is immediately clear! – make these dresses glitter and shine, and there is a true level of decadence apparent from their showcase on the catwalk. And this is the third designer to make use of colour – so for non-traditional brides, you are definitely in luck!

Israeli designer Inbal Dror has been an up-and-coming talent in recent years, and we are convinced that 2019 marks his final landing date as one of the most talented and inspired bridal designers in the world. With some of the most sensual, modern and innovative designs of this event, Dror wowed with sheer bodices and daring constructions.

Alon Livné has taken a more classical approach to 2019, with big white dresses on show that are intensely feminine. Inspired by the fairytales of old, we can see this look garnering a lot of attention for 2019, particularly for the more traditional brides out there.

We have already seen Mira Zwillinger’s collection for 2019, and yet the Queen of Ice range still managed to give us chills this weekend as it was strutted across the catwalk in New York. Youthful, quirky, and absolutely breaking all the rules, these couture gowns caused waves!

Claire Pettibone is also one of our absolute favourites here at Zankyou, and her new collection for 2019 is so romantic that we can barely stand it! The floral motifs, the colour, the beading, the embroidery, the lace, the classical shapes… these A-line gowns are gorgeous, and without a doubt one of the highlights of this weekend.

We’ll be bringing you more content from the 2018 New York Bridal Fashion Week in the coming hours and days, so keep an eye out for more news of this incredible event – and start looking for your 2019 wedding dress now! We can say for certain that florals, colours, and decadant embellishments are in for next season – and we’re sure you’re going to absolutely love what you find!
