Colours and fabrics that scream summer, embroidered with French lace, crowns of natural flowers, silk ribbons in natural green tones, chiffon trains, bare feet… Can you imagine a summer wedding inspired in a woodland wonderland? The ground covered in leaves and bouquets of wild flowers blowing in the breeze. Add in a magical summer sunset, an aura of seventies lighting and an intimate outdoor ceremony, and there you have your perfect wedding inspired around nature and ancient fairies.

Rustic weddings have that je ne sais quoi that bring out the best in a fairy tale themed wedding. Because this nymph or goddess style is nothing more than that: a perfect storybook setting where the most delicate bridal gowns, the colours of the earth, natural wood and outdoor bonfires become the main elements of this unique love story with a happy ending.

Bridal gowns with a goddess or fairy look work beautifully with transparent fabrics, portrait backs, illusion fabrics and dresses with empire cuts, with chiffon skirts draped to the floor, short trains and matching sleeves. The star fabrics for this: chiffon, silk organza, Chantilly lace… Light textures, that are not stiff and rigid, but flow with every moment, leaving behind a soft, ivory trail.

This look generally lends itself towards bare feet, although flat shoes or super heels in golden tones are the best protection from any wayward pine cones and thorn bushes. Choose designs with lots of sequins, nude ballet pumps with jewels, or shoes with plenty of sparkle to really contrast the natural look of the dress.

It’s essential that the rustic look is present in every corner of the wedding: the setting, the decor and even your tables should have a rustic feel. Our advice: Maintain a low key menu, with delicious but simple and natural food. Seasonal fruits, rustic breads nuts and cheese… the less fancy the better.

In regards to other bridal elements and hair, needless to say it needs to be neutral and natural. There is nothing like natural flowers to achieve that real wow effect. Always choose seasonal flowers, with neutral colors, eucalyptus branches, lavender and herbs will not only look beautiful but smell incredible too. These flowers can be used in the bouquets, centrepieces or even in your bridesmaids’ hair.

We love this natural look. It makes the true beauty of the bride, the setting and the romance of the day really shine. It’s not about glitz and glamour here, it’s about embracing nature and turning your wedding into the original fairy tale.
