Meet Victoria and Jonathan, the couple who met in their secondary school years over 10 years ago. They returned from London to their home in Cheshire to get married in their local family church, and then hosted the reception at their village hall. This meant they could decorate everything to their own taste, and the results were just beautiful – so have a look at their photos and be inspired!

Jonathan proposed one Saturday morning in their London home, with a champagne breakfast. After happily facetiming family and friends, the rest of the day was spent visiting the Shard and Borough Market – a perfect day.

Everything about their wedding was personal for both of them. Jonathan used to sing in the choir at the local church, so having the choir sing at their ceremony was extra special. The village hall for their reception was actually the place where their school used to host discos and local events, so they really returned to their roots for their big day.

The best thing about a DIY wedding is the effort that everyone puts in to create something so unique. After many ‘crafternoons’ with family and friends, the couple achieved a completely handcrafted wedding, and by hiring the village hall they even had the ability to choose their own caterers, suppliers and set up a free bar. With special touches such as a photo wall, a ‘who’s who’ game with the bridesmaids and groomsmen, and even some homemade gin, it was certainly a wedding to remember.

The bride looked picture perfect with her bridesmaids in their stylish wedding looks. Victoria’s dress was from The Wedding Dress Shop in Wimbledon, and her hair and make up was done by Amanda Jones.
