As many of you begin to get ready for a romantic date night, one thing is for sure, many couples all around the world will be getting engaged today. Tonight is one of the most popular nights of the year to propose (as well as Christmas day and New Year’s Eve) and with romance and love in the air, who knows what might happen after a few glasses of champagne!
If you’re thinking about popping the question to your loved one tonight over a candlelit dinner or your favourite takeaway, think again. I’m not a killjoy and I’m not here to put a dampener on things, but have you thought about this properly? I mean really, really properly? I don’t mean whether you love your partner, that bit is fairly obvious, otherwise you would’t even consider proposing, but what I mean is, have you really thought about and planned your proposal to perfection?
Proposing in a restaurant is lovely, quite frankly all proposals are lovely (or at least the intention is) but is that what your other half wants? Or more importantly, is it what they deserve? Again, it’s not about spending thousands, but it is about making personal gestures and making the proposal about you as a couple and things that your other half loves.
Do they love football? Then proposing in posh restaurant isn’t going to be about them. If they’re a lover of art, how about getting down on one knee in a gallery, or perhaps creating your own piece of art for them with a personal love message on the back.
There are so many ways to propose, elaborate and expensive ways and intimate and low-key ways. Whatever you decide, make it about your relationship and make sure you capture that special moment when you get a YES!
