There are those who dream of a wedding by the sea, those who love the boho-chic country style, those who prefer an elegant, traditional ceremony that is celebrated in a fairy-tale setting, like that of yesteryear. Our beautiful country has such an array of dream locations that there could be absolutely no problem with finding fairy-tale wedding options. Among these lies Villa Piceni, a prestigious residence dating back to the beginning of the 19th century in the province of Verbania. It is a perfect setting for those who wish to organise events with a traditional flavour without giving up the comfort of modernity. Villa Piceni was one of the first Grand Hotels of Lake Maggiore (historically known for the Gran Tour) for foreign tourists. Then it was the home of the Piceni-Martelli family until 2018, when the descendants of the family renovated it and restored it to its original function: the organisation of prestigious events.
A Fairy-Tale Ceremony and Reception
Villa Piceni is the perfect location for couples who love and look for atmospheres with an evocative, welcoming charm, for an intimate wedding shared with friends and family. In addition to the large courtyard that is great for hosting the aperitif and the cutting of the wedding cake, the Villa offers the bride and groom two indoor rooms, both with a romantic view of the lake making them perfect for the wedding banquet, while two more intimate spaces provided are perfect for organising the classic confectionery and cigar bar. On the upper level is an enchanting Italian garden with a large terrace overlooking the lake. The inner courtyard is arranged to be covered with a tensile structure so that you can use the outdoor spaces even in bad weather, so you have an excellent plan B in case of rain!
Moreover, just three hundred metres from the garden of Villa Piceni, on an enchanting promontory, is a delightful 12th century Romanesque church, whose frescoes by Luini’s school make it very popular for religious wedding ceremonies. However, the civil ceremonies in the Villa and the symbolic ceremonies on the terrace overlooking the lake are also very impressive – and therefore very popular. Various rooms are available for the bride and groom and their guests, so that up to 40 guests can stay at the Villa. These important little additions are what make Villa Piceni a perfect location for couples that wish to extend their wedding celebrations beyond the wedding day. Whether they are foreign couples – who often choose the three-day all-inclusive plan – or Italian couples, we are sure that the idea of a day of pampering before the vows are exchanged and a final day of celebration crowned by a brunch with close friends in the courtyard or in the old kitchen, and a boat trip on the lake, will win over many future newlyweds!
The recently renovated historic kitchen of Hotel Borromeo has become a dining room with the original marble sinks connecting to the old pantry which is now a large, modern, equipped kitchen, suitable for the needs of caterers selected by the bride and groom or recommended by the qualified staff of Villa Piceni. The perfect weddings for our location are those of couples who see their wedding as an occasion to bring relatives and friends together in a traditional but welcoming environment, making everyone feel at home for a long weekend of celebrations in a delightful setting!
