Love me! An Alice in Wonderland inspired winter wedding

Yes, we’re still in summer mode and don’t get me wrong, I’d never want to wish it away, but those couples getting married at the end of this year, will be in full swing with their winter wedding plans. As much as I adore summer, there is also something incredibly magical about winter weddings, especially if you’re fortunate enough to have snow on the big day.

Recreating such a famous story as a theme might seem difficult, but it’s not at all! This wedding inspired itself in all the beautiful elements of that magical story to create a dream setting. The bride chose a spectacular Victorian dress with illusion neckline and lace sleeves. She completed her look with a vintage fitted jacket and fur shrug to keep out the cold.

The groom wore an elegant evening suit, with quirky socks that matched the theme perfectly. His top hat and pocket watch were perfect reminders of the white rabbit that accompanied Alice in the famous story. The bridesmaids wore pretty sky blue and baby pink dresses matching the dress worn by Alice in the story, a perfect contrast with the glamour of the bride and groom.

It wasn’t just their attire that was planned down to a T. All the small details and elements of their theme were planned to perfection. Immaculate details in every corner of their wedding: the napkins, the invitations, the groom’s accessories and so many other touches taking us straight down the imaginary rabbit hole in this charming story by Lewis Carroll.

To take their Alice in Wonderland theme to another level, this couple opted for some charming table centrepieces with different floral varieties and colours. White tones, lilac and pale pink stood out and really framed the personality and character of the couple. To complement the decor of the venue, the couple chose a very elegant setting which contrasted with the intense green walls beautifully.

We just love this winter setting. Fields full of snow, the trees with their dramatic seasonal look, all adding to the undeniable magic and elegance of this wedding.

If you’re thinking of a religious ceremony, then this church full of elegance and with its baroque style was a match made in heaven for this theme. For this type of theme, we suggest you mention to guests on the invitations that you’d like them to come dresses accordingly in the style of “Alice in wonderland”. Guests don’t need to go overboard or spend lots of money on an outfit, but small touches like men having playing cards on their cufflinks or carrying pocket watches and women wearing tea dresses or having mini top hats as hairpieces would round the whole setting off in the most amazing way.

Not only is this my favourite story of all time, but I think this theme can adapt itself perfectly to any time of year. For a winter wedding indoors as we’ve shown you here, or for an outdoor summer wedding with an afternoon tea party instead of a formal wedding breakfast. The main elements? Think playing cards, pocket watches, mini bottles and cookies with lables saying eat me, top hats, tea cups and white rabbits of course. So imaginative and so much fun!
