If you thought that frills were only for flamenco dancers or for kidswear, you’re wrong! In fact, frills are becoming a must, both in ready-to-wear collections and in Haute-Couture, and for both guests and brides. We have put together a selection of various fun styles which beautifully demonstrate how frills can be used in the most elegant way, from the most simple designs to the most elaborate.
Frills can be found as cuffs at the ends of sleeves, around the neckline or in a peplum style around the waist, and can be created with lace, silk or tulle. There really are so many ways to incorporate frills into your wedding dress and all of them have a spectacular effect.
3. Bardot Neckline or Off The Shoulder
It’s undoubtedly the neckline of the season. We see it on tops and dresses everywhere we look and now bridal wear designers are jumping on the trend and incorporating it into their new collections. Bardot necklines and dropped shoulders are super feminine, leaving your shoulders free to carry some beautiful bridal jewellery, such as a necklace or some eye-catching earrings.
4. Flowers
They are the perfect addition to any romantic wedding dress. Flowers can be seen here sewn around the bottom of the dress or flowing downwards on the skirt. They can also be seen in stunning lace, from the finest varieties such as chantilly to the thickest ones like guipure, when has proven to be very popular in recent collections. Carolina Herrera knows exactly how to work with this trend and we love the look below with its voluminous skirt and strapless neckline embellished with a floral border. How wonderful!

Romanticism is brought to life by this type of design with beautiful free-flowing tissue material on the skirt and a more fitted upper half, which will define your curves and emphasise your femininty to the maximum! In this case, you can’t go wrong with a this type of tissue material which will steal the show with its stunning movement and jaquard crochet details.

7. Transparency
One of last season’s novelties that triumphed to such an extent that the huge brands have included it for yet another season! Wedding dresses with transparent sections are massively popular and are becoming more and more on-trend. The transparent sections can be seen around the neckline or on the sleeves, made with tulle or wonderful lace. The see-through panels also appear adorned with beautiful beads and gems, or even on skirts to add a modern twist to a traditional wedding dress.
8. The Two-Piece
In the past, we would have never imagined a bridal design which was not a beautiful lavish dress, full of volume. Nowadays, more and more ladies are opting for a more informal design whilst still remaning classy and elegant. Ideal for civil ceremonies, beach weddings or simply for those who like to stand our from the crowd, two-piece designs are becoming a popular choice. You could even choose to wear one just for the party after the ceremony, leaving you more comfortable and free to dance the night away.
9. Long Sleeves
A favourite among current brides, the long sleeve is certainly prevailing at the moment. Don’t miss out on this trend, since a wedding dress with sleeves can often be much more figure-flattering! Be it full-length or even three-quarter length, the sleeve is always a hit and is especially perfect for an autumn or winter wedding.
10. Lace and Tulle
Without a doubt, this season’s star fabrics are lace and tulle. The romantic style which is on trend for 2018 is synonymous with lace, embroidery and tulle. Tulle is perfect for a flowy skirt which can be layered to create a stylish voluminous effect, just like Oscar de la Renta‘s gorgeous wedding dresses.
