Meet Steve and Janie, the couple who had a beautiful wedding in a Chicago winery. They met 4 years ago on dating website, OK Cupid, and the rest is history. We are delighted to share these lovely photos of their special day – they make perfect inspiration for city weddings in the US!
The Proposal…
Steve proposed to his future wife overlooking the glistening Lake Michigan, with the picturesque Chicago skyline in the distance. It was a beautiful summers walk which ended in Steve going down on one knee and declaring his love for Janie. This was the perfect way to kickstart the exciting wedding planning process and the next chapter of their story together.
The Venue…
“We decided we wanted a venue that was rustically elegant,” said the couple, who chose City Winery because its al fresco spaces and authentic decor perfectly suited their style. City Winery also provided the food, cake, alcohol, tables and chairs, which made the planning process a lot easier. It’s a charming venue, and made the prettiest backdrop for Steve and Janie’s vows.
The Details…
When it came to planning the nitty gritty, the couple sourced a lot of their wedding venues by looking on Yelp for good reviews. Their wedding planner, Events by Joey, was a friend of the family, and helped them achieve their desired rustic theme by taking care of even the smallest artist details.
Janie only visited two dress boutiques before finding the right wedding dress for her. She knew it was perfect as soon as she tried it on, although it wasn’t the style she had initially pictured herself in! Janie looked stunning in her white v-neck gown, designed by Karen Willis Holmes, and her bridesmaid’s wore a deep burgundy to co-ordinate with her dark red and white bouquet of flowers.
The Big Day…
“The day of the wedding was just pure happiness and excitement!”, exclaims Janie, who admits that doing a ‘first look’ before the ceremony was very sweet, and perfect for getting rid of her nerves. After some photos in the city centre, the wedding party arrived at their venue and enjoyed emotional vows, canapés on the lawn, live music, funny speeches and the all-important first dance.
All in all, this rustic-chic winery wedding in Chicago was a big success. Janie and Steve could relax knowing that everything was taken care of by their wedding co-ordinator, while their photographer, Daniella Cardili, was able to capture every unique and memorable moment to produce these lovely photos of their special day.
We wish Steve and Janie happiness on their new journey as newlyweds!
