Rachael and I had only been on a few dates and I was trying to play it cool when my Dad invited Rachael to come on holiday with us to the south of France… It seems he knew what made a good girlfriend and didn´t  share the whole “trying to play it cool” thing. Having only met my grandparents once or twice, my Gramps said to Rachael, “it’s not a question of if you two get married but when”.  It seems my Gramps had no intention of playing it cool either!

Having been a couple for 364 days, Tom knew he couldn´t wait a moment longer to have Rachael join the family. “The 365th day would be when I’d ask Rachael to spend the rest of forever with me. A picnic proposal on 3rd August 2014, was when it happened. Having to awkwardly wait for the perfect moment drew out the proposal like a scene from a Richard Curtis romcom. Despite the Jack Russell trying to run off with the sausage rolls mid proposal,it all went pretty well I thought – the girl of my dreams said yes and we were both over the moon.

Choosing Prestwold Hall was the perfect location for these two lovebirds. Although primarily chosen for being equidistant between where their parents both live, as soon as they saw the venue, they knew it was perfect. Grand enough to cater for 100 guests, whilst still intimate with lovely homely rooms.

“Including a cosy bar area surrounded by grand portraits, seating areas which we used to house the cheese tower, and the library which doubled up as a dance floor” it was perfect. “There was also plenty of room for the amazing band which kept the guests up dancing throughout the night.”

And so what about the dress!? The bride dazzled everyone, wearing the ‘Merry’ dress by Provonias. “I wanted something off the shoulder that was simple, had lots of lace and allowed me to dance.”

“Given that we were getting married in October, I wanted to base all of our colour scheme on autumnal colours and make the most of the beautiful tones available at that time of year.” Complimenting this perfectly, the bridesmaids wore deep orchid coloured dresses from Ghost, which set the colour scheme beautifully, and then gorgeous deep reds, peaches and light pinks for the bouquets brought everything together.

“Justine from Just Flowers in Loughborough created the most beautiful bouquets, a flower arch above the church door and hair garland for me that made my wedding outfit complete.”

One of the most special moments of the day for Rachael was being played down the aisle by Michael, one of Tom’s three best men, with a classical guitar version of ‘Here, There and Everywhere’ by the Beatles.  “It was the best day ever.
