There’s little more romantic than the quintessentially English wedding in a countryside stately home. They exude class and sophistication, and lend a sense of being part of something profound and historic to proceedings. Lots of couples are now enjoying weddings that have all of the benefits of something steeped in tradition, but with their own modern personal touches that really make the day unique. This is the story of a wedding day that proved to be exactly that. Take a look and you’re sure to find some inspiration for your own big day.
The Couple
Alan and Emily were looking for a wedding that would tick all of the right boxes in terms of being traditional, with a venue that was historic and stylish, and a reception that would bridge the gap between traditional and contemporary. They got exactly that, not just with their venue but with every last detail of the wedding.
The Dress
Emily got her stunning figure flattering mermaid silhouette wedding dress by Mori Lee from her mother’s bridal shop Paris Bridals, as well as the beautiful bridesmaids dresses and all of her bridal accessories. To complete Emily’s look The Powder Room took care of her hair make-up to add some extra glam factor.
The Venue
Crewe Hall is a magnificent Jacobean mansion; rich in history with period features but modern touches, characteristic tree-lined drive aside beautiful gardens, and interiors every bit as grand with its high ceilings and incredible ornate decor. The mansion features everything from a great hall absolutely made for a reception, to to the most strikingly beautiful chapel. This wonderful listed building set in the beautiful Cheshire countryside is the stuff of dreams.
The Moment
As the wedding march began to play and Emily took her first steps down the aisle, all nerves left the happy couple and they both began to beam with joy. Their ceremony was so touching everyone of their guests was left with goosebumps.
The Details
The theme for the wedding was based on its rustic woodland setting and complemented the venue perfectly. All their wedding flowers and table decor were taken care of by The Flower Shop, we love the way the delicate flowers beautifully adorned Crewe Hall adding a sweet touch of romance to the grand surrounds. Emily’s dad really got into prepping for the big day and doing his bit with the table decorations. He sorted the tree trunks for the cakes and table decorations to sit on which we think look fab! Just have a look at the cute favours too, all in keeping with the theme.
The warm and witty speeches together with the remarkable atmosphere, were beautifully captured by photographer Matthew Rycraft whose pictures really convey the joy of the happy couple as well as the sheer jubilation of the guests who shared in celebrating the start of their marriage together.
This was one big day that had all of the hallmarks of the classic English dream wedding, with some lovely personal touches that really marked it out as their own. The end result was a fitting celebration for the happy couple, and a day loved by all of their nearest and dearest who were lucky enough to share it with them.
