The sun may be shining where you are, but it’s definitely autumn. There’s a chill in the air, the clocks have gone back, the leaves are crisp underfoot and Halloween and Bonfire night are upon us.

There are so many ways in which this colourful season can be incorporated into your wedding decor. The amazing orange, brown and gold tones that nature gives us at this time of year can make for a magnificent colour scheme and natural props such as fruits, vegetables and leaves can really add a wonderful dimension to the style of any event.

Whether you’re looking for decor inspiration or just a way in which you can adapt the season to fit your wedding plans, we have some fun seasonal ideas to help you on your way.

Leaves:

They’re easy to source and better still, they’re free! Leaves come in all shapes, colours and sizes and are extremely versatile. They can feature on your cake, on wedding stationery or even as part of an elaborate table centrepiece. A pile of leaves lining your ceremony aisle would look incredible, or how about leaves for an alternative bouquet or boutonniere?

Favours:

Stuck for autumnal gifts for your guests? Stick to seasonal produce or items that follow the rich and golden colour scheme. Apples are in season this time of year, as are pumpkins or how about something gold and sparkly? Biscuits with an autumnal theme, homemade jams, toffee apples… all delicious and something I’m sure your guests will love!

Pumpkins:

A little obvious and maybe a little bit cliche, but I love them. So pretty, so versatile and so cheap! They don’t have to be gruesome and scary. They can be used as table cetrepieces, in place of flowers or just as general decor, dotted around your reception. They come in a variety of tones too from burnt orange to very pale, almost white. I think they’re the perfect addition and a must have for this season.

Bridal:

It’s easy to incorporate the season into your bridal look too. Whether it’s with seasonal blooms in your hair, an autumnal bouquet or a quirky seasonal photo session with your photographer. Don’t be afraid to add in these bold colours to your overall style.

OK, this can cover a multitude of areas. Reception, table dressing, cake… Anything and everything can be given a special seasonal touch, and if this is your chosen theme or colour scheme then there’s no reason why you shouldn’t go all out. Whether you want leaves on your cake, your bridesmaids in autumnal wellies or Halloween features on your big day it’s all possible!

I love this season. The amazing fashion that’s in the shops, the gorgeous colours in my back garden, crisp mornings, hot chocolates by the fire and the anticipation of Christmas. It’s no surprise more and more couples are choosing this time of year to get married with all of the fantastic colours and produce available at this time of year. I love it and I hope you do too.

Are you having an autumn wedding? We’d love to hear about it! @Zankyou_UK
