Alice & Ian's Heartfelt Family-Focused Wedding Day

If there’s one thing we love more than weddings here at Zankyou, it is weddings with children involved. Though some couples are reticent to even invite children to their big day – let alone get them actively involved with the ceremony and celebrations – we think having children around can only emphasise the love and vibrancy of a wedding. And Alice and Ian’s wedding day really proves our theory correct. Making their son a core feature of their big day, this couple’s wedding was very heartfelt, and a very special memory for their little family.

Alice and Ian really made their wedding day about them, with their personalities really shining through in all the little touches. There were many little bohemian touches to their décor, including floral bunting at their indoor venue at Crabbs Barn in Essex, and an impressive three-tier naked cake at their reception. And speaking of food, we have a treat for you if you have a sweet tooth! Alice and Ian’s reception was abound with home-made tarts and pies (including a tantalising-looking carrot cake), and was adorned with sweets – for guests of all ages!

Though there were touches of informality in their wedding day, Alice’s bridal look was beautifully classic. Choosing an A-line gown with allover floral lace and some subtle tulle underskirt to create volume, she could not have looked more the perfect bride. We loved her mint green sneakers too! And Ian brought it too, donning a traditional kilt, which was a look mimic-ed by his soon too. With his  boutonnière matching Alice’s lovely blue bouquet, this couple were surely made for one another!

And of course, one of the best decisions made by Alice and Ian for their wedding day was to hire the wonderful Sarah Wayte from Sarah Wayte Photography to capture their big day on camera. It is difficult to capture emotions in a 2D image, but Sarah does it so well that it comes across effortlessly. Creating natural, non-staged environments for the bride and groom, Sarah has a special talent for capturing those small moments of intimacy that would otherwise be lost amongst the celebrations. So take a closer look at this lovely family-focused wedding, and get inspired!
