Castello Baronale di Collalto Sabino has a long, rich, traditional history. Its construction dates to the 12th century, and later on in 1641 the castle was bought by Cardinal Barberini, the nephew of Pope Urban VIII. The castle was later restored in the 19th century and once again later in 1988-1998. The castle retains both its Renaissance and Baroque characteristics and, as its beauty has been exceptionally preserved, Castello Baronale di Collalto Sabino is considered one of Italy’s greatest cultural assets and it is therefore protected by the Italian heritage committee.
