Let me briefly introduce myself, I am Jan van de Maat, born and raised in Rijssen, Twente. Married to Henriëtte in 2008 and since 2018 living in Elspeet, a village in the middle of the beautiful Veluwe, together with our stubborn Siberian huskies Skye and Summer.

I photographed my first wedding in 2010 and I have now photographed almost 700 weddings. I work throughout the Netherlands, but I have also regularly shot weddings abroad, such as Canada, Ireland, Germany and Denmark. I also have a lot of experience in photographing Syrian, Armenian and Arab weddings. Italy is still on my bucket list, so if you get married there, let me know! Or actually, I especially love capturing love as a reminder of a wonderful day, your wedding day!

Over the years, my work has been awarded a total of more than 100 national and international awards, including the Dutch Bridal Photo Award (I even became Overall Winner in 2019!), Fearless Photographers, Societies of Wedding and Portrait Photographers, Wedisson and Masters or Wedding Photography. And this year I have been nominated for Photographer of the year at the Societies in England! Of which I also received a trophy in 2017 and 2020.

My style is often described as fairytale-like, playing with light and painterly. But also classy, timeless and elegant. I prefer to photograph in nature, on an estate or in a castle. But an old city with beautiful old streets, or a beautiful church or cloister are also my favorite.

My defining characteristic is that I am calm. And that is my strong point at a busy wedding and especially at unexpected moments. I know how to direct where necessary and pay attention to the smallest details. I always try to work unnoticed during the ceremony or photograph in silent mode during your blessing.
