Almonry Barn is unlike any other wedding barn as not only does it still retain plenty of historical soul and a picturesque setting, but it also offers a super stylish twist, rustic elegance and striking architectural design throughout - perfect for the style conscious couple. It's definately the right venue for any couple dreaming of a laid back day with a ton of pretty thrown in.
Almonry Barn is a Scheduled Ancient Monument (the same historical league as Stonehenge) and has been standing for over 800 years. The barn is believed to be the oldest wedding barn in England, and was once part of a beautiful abbey - the ruins of which still stand opposite - and was used by the monks to give 'alms' to passing travellers and pilgrims.
Sympathetic updates to the interior of the barn provide a spacious main reception room for the wedding breakfast with a seprate dance floor area, our tranquil ceremony room upstairs in the hayloft & a quirky dedicated bar area in the adjoining old stable room. Original doors open onto a pretty walled terrace with views over the Somerset levels, orchard & nearby stream – A stunning backdrop for your celebrations.
The barn is a small family business and home, and is run by mother and daughter team - Angela and Louise. Louise's background is in interior design and event styling, and she recently got to fully experience the barn for herself when she married her lovely husband Paul in July 2015, so you really will be in very safe expert hands!
