Bridal make-up can be a bit of a sticking point for many brides-to-be. Do you hire a professional make-up artist? Will your local beauty salon do it? Or should you do it yourself?

There are many factors to consider. Do you usually wear make-up? If you do, would you feel comfortable creating a completely different look for your big day, or would you rather stick to what you’re used to? If you don’t usually wear make-up then it probably is a good idea to leave things to the professionals, but with most of us girls knowing the basics when it comes to foundation and a bit of lippy, then all you need to create the perfect bridal look is a good tutorial video and some good make-up… and a bit of practice and patience! When we say good, we mean good quality and new (if yours has been swimming around your make-up bag for a few months). You don’t need to splash out hundreds of pounds on a whole new make-up collection, work with what you’re familiar with and with what works for you. There are some brilliant products available on the high street in affordable places such as Boots and Superdrug and also at branded make-up stores if you’re happy to treat yourself to something a little more special.

With Spring in full bloom, a perfect make-up style for this time of year is a traditional English rose look. Elegant, classic and something that suits all skin tones and colours. It’s natural and simple yet glowing and fresh.

You & Your Wedding have teamed up with make-up artist Hannah Martin from Bobbi Brown to show us how you can achieve this beautiful look from the comfort of your own home.
