Zankyou presents makeup artist Katie Larcombe!
We would like to present to you one of our favorite makeup artists: Katie Larcombe! Katie writes fantastic guestblogs for Zankyou. We asked her what she loves so much about working with brides.
“Bridal hair and makeup, is a dynamic- creative outlet, you get to travel and meet fantastic people. It is a pleasure to do brides’ hair and makeup because you are part of a very unique and special day. Prior to the ceremony it can become chaotic and hectic, but it has a buzz and satisfaction that is unforgettable.
Part of my job as a stylist is to stay up to date with the latest bridal trends, but my biggest strength is to listen. What does this bride want, what will suit her, how will my idea look in relation to the whole wedding? If you forget each bride is unique then you can never fully represent her personality.
A strong focus on the individual bride and their needs is so important. I evaluate everything from their skin type, daily routine, and lifestyle. If a bride has problem skin, I recommend a skincare routine, with the best products and brands. This ensures the skin will be at its best on the wedding day. Details are important, such as; how much time they have until their wedding day. I guide brides where to locate the best products and share tips on how to use them. I take into account everything not just the skin on the face.
Bridal hair and makeup lessons are a highly rewarding aspect of my business. Some brides don’t want an artist so up close and personal on their big day. Bridal hair and makeup lessons not only give the brides’ the knowledge to look fantastic on their wedding, but also the tricks that can be used every day. Great hair and makeup makes you feel different, enhances your mood and can change how others react to you and treat you.
The greatest gift I receive from my brides is what I learn from them. Most brides have been thinking about their wedding day for years. I am always amazed by the original ideas that brides describe when discussing the dreams and aspirations of their wedding. There is nothing better than when a bride leaves their trial and I think what a fantastic and innovative idea.
