The second of our interviews with the Zankyou International Wedding Awards winners from the UK brings you Whimsical Wonderland Weddings, a wonderfully sweet wedding blog with great photos and cute couples. Lou, who owns the site, took a little time out to tell her about herself! Thanks Lou!

Zk: How would you describe your blog and your work? What’s your mission in the wedding world?

{www}: Whimsical Wonderland Weddings started as I was planning our wedding day, and wanted to record all the gorgeous things I was finding so I wouldn’t lose them. It grew to me featuring weddings and shoots I loved. Unfortunately we had to cancel our wedding 6 weeks before the big day, but I couldn’t face stopping the blog too. So it’s so important to me to help inspire couples planning their wedding day.

{www} is an eclectic mix of styles, I love a little bit of everything in life and that relates to my taste in weddings too. I want to show couples that they don’t need mega bucks to have their dream wedding, using a bit of DIY and creativity goes a long way and of course hiring an amazing photographer to treasure the memories. I also want couples to remember their marriage is so much more important, it really comes through the images when a couple is in love, which of course is what it’s all about.

Zk: Where do you get your inspiration?

{www}: Ohhh I get inspiration in life and for the blog in all types of places. The couples themselves provide a lot of inspiration, after all they are the ones that keep bringing new ideas to the forefront. It’s also important to keep a foot in the fashion industry, crochet, block colour and florals are all making their way into the wedding industry. The wedding vendors and photographers are always inspiring me, they are such creatives and often organise amazing bridal shoots. In my personal life I get inspiration from my loved ones, and my own camera… looking at the world in a different way.

Zk: What does winning a Zankyou International Wedding Award mean to you?

I was over the moon when I received the email from Zankyou telling me I had won an award. To be named against such other wonderful, creative and inspiring people was a huge honour. It’s so lovely to get recognition from a company as fabulous as Zankyou, especially when you work alone and wonder if you are doing things right Thank you so much!!
