Wedding dress – strapless

Strapless dresses are a staple of all bridal wear collections. A very feminine look, the strapless neckline is cut straight across (or sometimes scalloped), just above the bust. Fits can vary from tight and corset-like leading down to a cinched-in waist and wide skirt to a looser fit that falls from the bust straight down to the floor in a flowing, boho look.

At Zk, we just love the strapless look, but are also aware that there are a few fundamental issues that you should take into account if you go for this style of dress.

*When you wear a strapless dress attention is automatically drawn to your shoulders, upper arms, neck and chest, which therefore need to look great. Regular exfolation and moisturising, upper-body exercises and a statement necklace are all pre-requisites for making sure your strapless look is the right choice.

*Remember too that the lack of support from straps means that your bodice will have to fit perfectly, so that you’re not hitching your dress up all day. Make sure that you discuss this with your fitter, especially if you’re planning on going on a pre-wedding diet, as your bust is one of the first places that will be affected by your new look.

*Underwear is also another key issue. You’ll need good support, regardless of your size, and you’ll have to have a couple of trial runs, to make sure your bra does not stick out.

*Finally, remember that this look, as suggested above, is pretty revealing. If you’re getting married in a religious ceremony it may be a good idea to choose a little jacket or pashmina that will cover your shoulders during the ceremony.
