How did you and your new husband meet?

Advertising

My husband, Artur, first saw me whilst I was dancing during a belly dance performance in June 2009. That was the first time he saw me, though I had no idea at the time there was a guy in the audience watching my every move, let alone who liked me so much (as I later found out from his stories afterwards). As he says, that was love at first sight, even though he was sure I was not older than 17, so (as he thought) it was even illegal to show interest to the minor! Let me just point out the fact I was 25 at that time (well preserved, hah!) My husband is 7 years older than me…

Nevertheless, he dared to talk to me three months on  from that moment only when he saw me at a bowling game that was organised by the sport club we worked out in. He was blushing and felt confused as he came closer, but… Afterwards, there were a lot of dates, phone calls, marvellous flowers and LOVE!

How did he propose?

Artur told me later, he thought and thought again about the “right” and best way to propose, however he ended up proposing when we were home alone, arguing of all times! However it was a really emotional moment when he got down on one knee, reached for my hand, opened the box with a diamond ring in it and asked if I would marry him. At that very moment all my rage, irritation, and negative emotions vanished and I realised how madly in love I was with the man in front of me, how desperately I wanted to become his wife, take his name, and call him Hubby. I said YES…

And what about your gorgeous wedding dress!? Did you already have something in mind?

It may sound weird or funny, but I didn’t visit any of the wedding boutiques in my hometown. I already had a clear idea of a bridal gown I was dreaming of. I adore Rosa Clara’s wedding dresses; I love their style, the grace of the design, and the fabrics they use. The only thing I had to do was to find the nearest place I could buy their wedding dress in. And that exact place was Spain, of course. While I chose a bridal gown from the Fall 2014 wedding dress collection, (see the 2016 Rosa Clara collection here!) it appeared to be a little bit difficult to get it as fast as I needed it. Here came the decision to sew and design my own dress. I found the designer / the dressmaker who brought all my dreams and wishes to life. She is the woman I was on the same wave length with, she understood me (both literally and figuratively) without words from the very first moment I showed her the picture of the dress. She even went to Saint Petersburg to buy precisely the same fabric that Rosa Clara used for that exact model I chose.

It took us three months to get the wedding dress ready, but I was the happiest girl alive when I got it- exactly the same I was dreaming of. . .

Where was the wedding venue? How did you choose it?

We knew we wanted to be married in Malta, it was just perfect! As there were only two of us + two witnesses (obligatory by the Maltese law), the marriage was officially registered in the Marriage Registry of Malta for we wanted it to be legally valid in our country as well. We had the official part of the wedding, a marvelous photoshoot afterwards and a romantic tete-a-tete dinner in the fabulous Blue Elephant Restaurant of the Hilton Hotel.

The most important criteria when choosing the venue was the possibility to stay together without anyone passing by or chatting next to us, so we could enjoy each other’s company while having our first dinner as husband and wife. Honestly, Hilton complied with our every single request!

Bride: What was your most memorable or special moment of the day?

The most memorable moment of that day for me was the moment he put a ring on my finger. I felt how truly and deeply I love him, felt that my heart and all the thoughts are devoted to his being, that he is the one who makes me the happiest girl in the world, the one who makes me better. In addition to that, that handsome guy looked SO sexy in that suit… with that charming smell, perfect haircut and yummy beard!

Groom: What was your most memorable or special moment of the day?

That was the moment I saw Julia in that breathtaking wedding dress for the first time. She looked so innocent and pure: like a white lily or a white swan, graceful and elegant (so that I was even afraid to touch her) but my very own and deeply loved at the same time. I suddenly felt that I’ve done everything right in my life if Lord let me meet such a woman and what is more – make her fall in love with me. When we are together, my past seems worth it, because I clearly understand that if I had done one thing differently, I might never have met her…
