1. Salento, “land of the sun, sea and wind” is a prime location for weddings. What is the something extra that it possesses?

Salento has been going through a golden period in recent years, as tourism has increased it has had a knock on effect on destination weddings. A prime location for weddings, thanks to the variety it offers: an old farm of the 6th century in the country; by the sea on the beach or in a villa overlooking the Adriatic and Ionian coasts; in a small village in the hinterland that surrounds a castle, or perhaps a baroque palace or a historic mansion. Such is the choice, Salento can cater for all wants and needs despite its size.

2. What are the customs and wedding traditions of Salento?

Salento is a land rich in marital traditions, both in days prior the event and after, ensuring that the party lasts a lot longer than just one day. One tradition which has lately been revived by the younger couples, is one where the groom serenades the bride the night before the big day. Relatives and closest friends of the groom can be involved. They perform at the house of the bride in the late evening with a song and dance. Sometimes bands and professional dancers have been hired to perform traditional dances, making it a truly unforgettable moment for the bride! The bride watches the show surrounded by friends and family and the evening ends with a well-wishing toast to the bride and groom. Similarly, the day after the wedding it is customary to organise a brunch at a different venue to the reception of the night before, simply to thank the guests for coming.

3. Are there any typical locations? In regards to the decorations, how are Salento weddings different?

A typical location is the Masseria, a rural dwelling, transformed into a summer residence or tourist facility and full of luxury, where the quaint churches allow for the whole service and ceremony to be held entirely in the small village. Angelo and I love a lot of these places as they are full of charm where the simplicity of a rustic life blends with the refinement of a glamorous event and with our equipment, we like to mix a nature-inspired fabrics, herb bundles, local ceramics, antique chandeliers, crystals, flowers and candles, we create a fairy-tale environment for our spouses. Refinement and luxury in a balanced union in a homely environment.
