For all brides, the planning of their wedding and the choice of all the small details that will make their big day special, are very important steps ahead of saying “I do”. For Silvia, the leading lady in this real wedding these were even more important given her profession: a wedding planner. Which is why, when Silvia and Javier contacted the Parador of Alcalá de Henares, it was all hands on deck to ensure that their special day was just perfect.
The first thing they were absolutely clear on was that their choice of décor had to include puzzles in some way, one of the couple’s favourite pastimes. In fact, the cufflinks worn by the groom, were little puzzle pieces that would match wonderfully with the rest of the day.
Their planning and ideas were easy to put into action as they knew exactly what they wanted. They loved their chosen puzzle theme and knew exactly what their colour scheme would be, so it was all about exploring options within these two areas. There were puzzles on their invitations, as well as on their wedding favours, guest book, centrepieces and menu cards. All of those wonderful details were immortalised by the camera of their chosen photographer Sara Lobla.
To help achieve the look they wanted and to really help contrast their fun theme, they opted for the help of Paula, wedding planner at the Parador of Alcalá de Henares, the magnificent venue they had chosen for their wedding. The couple worked very closely with the wedding planner, who really helped to enhance their puzzle theme and advised them throughout the whole process.
In the same way as for every wedding, ahead of any celebrations, the bride had to carefully choose each element of her look and style. Silvia instantly knew that she wanted a two piece wedding dress by La Unike with a matching bouquet. For her makeup and hair styling Silvia chose Merino Centro de Belleza. The groom and his best man, opted for a look by Peramo Confecciones. The result was spectacular.
Despite the fact that the Parador of Alcalá de Henares has wonderful spaces for a wedding ceremony in their magnificent gardens and in their stunning rooms indoors; Silvia and Javier chose the beautiful Cathedral of Alcalá de Henares. After the ceremony, the couple and their guests moved onto the Parador, to enjoy a cocktail reception full of music and romance.
The guests were really wowed with the intricate details of the décor. The puzzle centrepieces in mint green and white tones and a unique puzzle guest book were just some of the interesting creations.
The main reception room in the Parador was the place where the guests would feast upon the delicious menu. Food typical of the network of Paradores, was a true delight for the senses mixing the best of local produce with their gastronomical expertise. The menu chosen by the couple consisted of a “Cream of seafood with a prawn salad” as a starter followed by “Iberico pork medallions with a potato tower and Manchego cheese sauce”. The dessert stuck to tradition with a delicious local pastry “Costrada de Alcalá” with vanilla ice cream. Yum!
Upon entering the reception room, the guests were taken completely by surprise by the elaborate centrepieces and puzzles that decorated the entire room.
Without doubt, one of the more special details of the day, was the surprise that Silvia received from one of her closest friends. A miniature picture hand painted by her maternal grandmother. The gift was a beautiful memory for a beautiful day.
Finally, after the speeches, the couple opened the dance floor with their first dance followed by more dancing and partying. The guests were treated to a sweet table and a very special and fun photo session.
The couple wanted something original and fun, so they relied on another well known board game to entertain guests, Scrabble and adapted it to include it as part of the games throughout the reception. They chose personalised boxes with words, emoticons and letters that were important to them, so that guests could express their love and kind words. It was a complete success and one of the highlights of the day.
