Paris Fashion Week

The French capital enjoyed its hottest date with fashion from the 30th of September to the 8th of October. The latest spring-summer 2010 trends filled catwalks at Paris Fashion Week recently, including clothes by famous brands like Chanel, Louis Vuitton, Valentino, Christian Dior and Jean Paul Gaultier.
Of all the world’s fashion weeks, maximum excitement surrounds Paris. This year fluid shapes in neutral colours or shining metals or brightly coloured geometric pieces were just some of the styles on show. Anne-Valérie Hash presented a very technical line with material that looked like creased paper that reflected the light.

Meanwhile, Limi Yamamoto‘s collection was ful of white shirts, big sleeves and dresses falling from the chest outwards. Balmain, on the other hand, presented military-inspired pieces, in terms of colour and style. Mini-dresses and super-tight trousers in metallic bronze, ochre and chocolate were on show.

White was big for Chanel and many of its suits and dresses could easily be adapted for a wedding. One of the world’s leading fashion houses could be an inspiration to any bride this season, thanks to the absolute femininity of its collection.

Trends for 2010
Some of next summer’s musts, which appeared on the French catwalks recently, include shocking bright colours, such as fuschia, and embellishments like lace and crystals.

Jump-suits, flowery dresses, shorts and bright prints are all trends for the coming future. Meanwhile, evening styles were definitely the centre of attention in Paris, as in recent years.

What about shoes? Well, the only way is up – and it looks like platforms are going to be around for a while.
So here are our conclusions about Paris Fashion Week:
Nothing really new, according to those in the know. Louis Vuitton designer, Marc Jacobs, was one of the few who presented something really new, although some for some his creativity was a little too much.
Meanwhile, the French designer Jean Paul Gaultier continued to produce elegant pieces for Hermès while John Galliano made great use of sheer fabrics.
