Getting married on a beach – England’s first beach wedding held in Bournemouth
Last Friday marked the first wedding on a beach in England, in the sunny Dorset town of Bournemouth. Some of you might not know but it was illegal to get married on a beach in the UK until recently, but now you can take advantage of a specially created venue for weddings right on the beach in Bournemouth.

Kate and Fraser Seed were the lucky winners of the Daybreak competition to hold the first beach wedding and were married at the venue run by Melanie Kiani and her team at Beach Weddings Bournemouth.

Couples hire the site for their wedding in the bespoke wedding hut and their reception for £999. Prices for catering at the reception can then go from £12 per person for afternoon tea up to £26.50 pp for fish, chips and mushy peas plus a choice of desserts!

So, if you’re looking to get married on a beach, but can’t quite afford the destination wedding in the Caribbean or perhaps you don’t want to get married so far away from home and your family, why not consider a trip to South West England for a day on the beach.
While we can’t guarantee the weather, we can definitely guarantee a real British seaside experience!
