The great thing about pre wedding photo shoots is that you decide where and when it is, so make it somewhere special to you both, as you will look back on the photos forever and maybe even display some on your wedding day. You can take advantage of using the photos as thanks you’s or have your favourite, if you can both decide on one, mounted in a frame and used as opposed to a guest book.

We are delighted to share the recent and beautiful engagement shoot of Hannah and Ben that took place on a sunny Saturday afternoon on the West Wittering Beach, West Sussex. The couple complimented one another and the backdrop perfectly. These fabulously captured, un posed photos by Sanshine Photography really show just how much fun you can have whilst documenting part of your love story. Here is what we asked the happy couple, for those of you looking for some inspiration and who may have similiar questions.

How did you two meet?

We met at our work Christmas party when I was only 18. We worked in different buildings so it was the first time we had met, but I had seen photos of him before and thought he looked very nice! He decided the best way to get my attention was to deliver mountains of balloons to me all evening. I still have a shrivelled up old balloon that I took home that evening!

Tell us the story of the proposal?

Ben surprised me and took me away to the Peak District for a weekend, I was surprised as it was Valentine’s Day and we don’t usually celebrate it. We went for a nice meal and when we went back to the room he gave me a Valentine’s card with ‘will you marry me’ written inside, when I looked up there he was on one knee with my ring!

What did you enjoy the most about your engagement shoot?

We loved our engagement shoot! We were both quite nervous at first but San and Michael made us feel so comfortable so quickly! They gave us loads of hints and tips about what we could do to make the most out of our photos and now we know what will work well on the wedding day. It was a wonderful location that was personal to us – we love the sea and surfing, so the beach was absolutely perfect.

What piece of advice would you give to other couples getting ready for their engagement shoots?

I would say that the best thing to do to prepare for your engagement shoot would be looking at some different styles of photography to see what you do and do not like. Don’t copy poses that you see, its good to get ideas but just do what comes naturally to you as a couple, that way it will reflect your personalities much more. Also, try to get your hair and makeup trials on the same day, then you know how everything is going to look and you can make any changes you want to!

What are you looking forward to the most when it comes to your wedding day?

The time I am most looking forward to, is getting into the wedding car just after the ceremony – just the two of us as Mr and Mrs for the first time, I cant wait!
