Paddy and Tom had been together for 10 years when they decided to pop the question. Two years later they were married in a very British ceremony with touches of Paddy’s Indian heritage. Their colour choice for the big day, …
Beach Wedding – Themed weddings (1)
Here’s the first in our series of themed weddings. So you can’t afford to head off to Hawaii for your wedding but you want a relaxed, beach theme to your big day. Look no further! Zk Magazine is here to help you.
Before we start, let’s just get one thing straight – you can’t get married on beaches in the UK. You can only get married in permanent structures for the time being. But who needs a beach to feel beachy? Just run with us on this one…
No, you don’t need to wear a grass skirt or shorts and a bikini top (unless you want to). What you do want is something relaxed. It’s all about looking light, so forget the ruffles (unless they’re relaxed ones), forget major structural work and forget the highest of heels. Check out looks by Dessy, Phase Eight or Alfred Angelo.
Again, like your dress, you need a relaxed, loose look. Check out our bridal hairstyles 2010 for pointers, especially relaxed curls. Shell hair clips, massive fabric flowers clips pinned to a loose chignon, and tasteful highlights can all be part of your look.
As tanning is just no good for the skin, why not go for a fake tan at a local salon? And talk to your beautician about the best looks for your manicure (we at Zk kinda like the french manicure for everything!)
Like we say, you can’t get married on a beach in the UK. So if you want a civil ceremony, what about a hotel with a seaview?
Again, if you’re looking for a hotel, check out the list above. Another idea would be to research the possibility of hiring a beachside café, with decking, so that your guests can look at the sun go down while you all dance away. Take a drive around your local beaches and talk to restaurant and café owners.
A BBQ of course! For drinks think rosé wine and traditional lemonade. What about flasks of tea for when the sun goes down and the weather gets cold? Or what about a cocktail bars with piña coladas and mai-tais, to build up on the tropical! And don’t forget the option of hiring an ice-cream van, for the ultimate dessert.
Take a look at our summer favours. Or what about some shells jewellery or a beautiful bottle of sand from your favourite beach?
DJ or live band, it doesn’t matter. What you do need to think about are the sounds. In other words, you can’t have a beach themed wedding without songs by The Beach Boys!!!
Ask your florist to use seasonal flowers, but also other elements like shells, pebbles, sand and stone. Remember that if you’re having your reception in an informal location, you need to think about lighting. Check out this solar-powered lighting. And also check out the for more useful things.
