Wedding jewellery can be the best addition to a beautiful wedding dress (for inspiration check out the 2012 collections box to the right!). Here Joan from Aye Do gives you some essential information on the jewellery trends sweeping the wedding world in 2012.

What are the trends in bridal jewellery?

As one of the top wedding accessory companies in the UK we might just know a little bit about what sells and what works best. So here we go…

Diamante is the biggest trend at the moment either on its own or mixed with pearls or crystals. The reason for the current popularity of diamante accessories is that vintage styling is all the rage with a choice of old vintage or vintage with a modern twist.

Old vintage – Many brides choosing this style either have a very simple veil or have a ribbon headband with appliqué beading. The jewellery chosen to match can be larger with lots of diamante and some pearls or crystals. Here are a few of the vintage necklaces designs we have that are perfect for this trend as they incorporate hundreds of diamantes, pearls and crystals giving them an antique feel as if they are a family treasure that has been passed down through many generations.

©Aye Do

Modern vintage – This is where the brides become creative mixing the old styling with a modern touch. The side headband has been extremely popular as have simple wedding dresses with beaded detailing around the waist line. To compliment this style we have seen many brides choosing jewellery with simpler beading than the old vintage style or a pearl necklace with little stud earrings. The larger beading used for this jewellery gives a modern feel and here we have some suggestions of modern vintage jewellery:

©Aye Do

If you are a bride who has an artistic flare then you may be looking at having a boho themed wedding. This has been a very popluar trend for the big day with bunting, flowers, hearts and pretty colours. Colour plays a big part in this theme so even if the bride chooses a simple dress she may choose to have pretty coloured flowers in her hair and her bridesmaids dresses can be accessorised with coloured sashes.

We have found the bride choosing this styling is opting to wear very simple jewellery but we have also found they like to be very unique with special touches and our brand new personalised jewellery is perfect for this as we have sterling silver charms that can be engraved with a date, initials of the couple or a name making these lovely gifts for the bride, Mother of the Bride and bridesmaids. Simple pearl jewellery is ideal for this theme, here are a few designs to give you the idea:

What’s your favourite wedding gift for inclusion on a gift list and why?

A special day learning to make cupcakes would be my choice and then I could feel like a real wife to my new husband.
