What little girl hasn’t dreamed about being Cinderella? That moment she walks into the palace in her stunning blue gown, her unique pumpkin carriage and her fairytale glass slipper. Magical! At some point or another we’ve all wished for a fairy godmother that would come and help us choose the perfect outfit!
This weekend saw the release of the much anticipated modern day Cinderella movie, an adaptation of the classic 1950 Disney film, so we thought a great way to kick start the week was to show you 5 key ways in which Cinderella can inspire your bridal look. Don’t you want to look like a princess on your big day?
1. Your wedding dress
If you want to achieve a true Cinderella look, the obvious choice is a dress with blue tones, just like in the film. It’s becoming more popular for brides to wear a non traditional white dress and we’re seeing many nude and pastel pink designs in the latest collections. Our suggestion for this look would be to choose a blue toned princess cut gown, with detailed sleeves and a giant skirt.
2. Hair & makeup
Hair and makeup are two very important details we can’t forget! What most stands out about Cinderella, and possibly why we adore her so much is her simplicity and natural beauty. Natural tones are something we’d suggest for this style. We think playing to your best assets whether they are your eyes or your cheekbones is all you need with a few neutral tones and a touch of girly pink for your lips.
When it comes to hairstyles there are two looks you could opt for. On the one hand, you could choose a natural and casual hairystyle with plaits and loose waves, or something a lot more classic and styled such as a perfect ballerina style up-do, so elegant! With either of these two hairstyles and your natural makeup you’ll definitely be looking like a fairytale princess!
3. Shoes!
It would be a bit silly (and negligent) of us to suggest you wore glass slippers for your big day… can you even buy them? We think the best choice of shoe here is something opulent and sparkly! These stilettos by Badgley Mischka or Louboutin would look spectacular with a blue tone bridal gown. If you’re a little dubious about a blue gown, then why not wear the blue tones on your feet? They’d add a beautiful splash of colour to your bridal look and could double up as your something blue! So regal!
4. It’s all in the detail
Do you remember what Cinderella’s dress was exactly like in the film? Well look a little closer and you’ll see that her neckline is covered in pretty butterflies. We love butterflies for any element of a wedding, so why not combine this spring detail with your whole look. Butterfly jewellery, butterflies in your bridal bouquet or as part of your wedding decor. Definitely a winning fairytale style.
5. An alternative option: A discreet dress with colourful notes
If you’re really not keen on the idea of a blue dress then why not choose something else completely. In the last part of the film, we see Cinderella in a much more traditional bridal design. In this case, the dress is ivory with a strapless, illusion neckline with an A-line cut, covered in a variety of colouful flowers and delicate embroidery. Elegant and classic, and this way you can happily leave the blue dress to your bridesmaids.
Now that you’ve found your prince charming why not re-create one of the most beautiful stories of all time, we all deserve a fairytale ending. With these 5 tips you’ll agree with us when we say “Believe me, they’re all looking at you.”
