Now that you’ve bagged your amazing wedding dress to send hearts a flutter, you’re all set to complete your look with cutting edge makeup straight off the runway. This year, the biggest international bridal shows had some amazing looks that caught our eye. Read on for how you can wear these hot new looks on your big day.
An effortlessly polished look
Designers like Isabel Zapardiez, Oscar de la Renta and Jenny Packham opted for the less is more trend and really concentrated on enhancing natural beauty. This soft and dreamy look demands a focus on fresh and glowing healthy skin with tinted moisturiser or BB cream. A dab of blush or bronzing powder, a touch of mascara and soft nude or pink lips. Everything was kept natural to let real beauty and the dress stand out. Rosa Clara added a subtle golden shade for eyeshadow and turned the lip colour up a shade or two, resulting in soft strawberry pouts. Ideal for a romantic look.
Bright white eyes
Houghton bridal went with an ethereal look. The rather dramatic look was achieved with a white dusty haze on the forehead, eyes and nose. To make the look aisle worthy on your big day emphasise a bright and beautiful complexion. Achieve this by applying soft touches of iridescent powder in those areas of the face. Why not go further by trying the inspirational white eyeliner cat eye as seen on the Marchesa runway. Estée Lauder Ultra White Eyeliner works wonders and at the same time brings a fresh alternative to the traditional black cat eye. Only for innovative brides.
Coral lips and cheeks
Coral provides a warm and healthy glow to any skin tone and there is nothing easier to reapply for a bride than an almost transparent coral lip. For cheeks choose a perfect tone between the coral and pink with a matte finish that will stay on for hours. We love Mary Kay Mineral Cheek Colour in Citrus Bloom. Finish off with a glossy coral lip. First apply a pink tone such as Laura Mercier Crème Smooth Lip Colour in Spiced Rose. Then go over it with Laura Mercier Paint Wash Liquid Lip Colour in Coral Reef. Keep eyes as natural as possible to fully get the Jenny Packham and Christos Bridal look.
60’s vibe
Pronovias echoed the sixties look by featuring black cat eyes eyes on pearly iridescent eye shadow, framed with white liner below the waterline. Lips were kept soft with a flattering pink glow. Complete this retro look with a sixties inspired dress channelling Audrey Hepburn’s style and you are good to go!
Berry lips
As seen at the Carolina Herrera and Marco & Maria shows, well-blended mauve and pink eye shadows are big. But the show stopper was a flawless velvety face and lips in deep maroon or burgundy. Have no doubt, this is your look if you usually wear dramatic lips during the day.
If you want to adapt some of these trends, don’t forget to try them at home to see how well it suits you and consult a professional make up artist for a trial run. Have fun with your look and as long as you feel comfortable with the makeup you choose to go with on your big day you will be showered with complements!
